Join Our Team as Chief Engineer at Hullo
 
We are seeking experienced and diligent Chief Engineers to help continue to shape the future of Hullo. Our commitment to safety, reliability, and passenger enjoyment drives us to operate two state-of-the-art Damen 4212 high-speed vessels, each supported by four engines. Featuring Damen’s award-winning Triton IoT platform, our vessels offer real-time monitoring and simplified operational dashboards, ensuring optimal performance.

As a Chief Engineer, you will champion our safety culture and oversee the safe, continuous operation of the engine department and vessel systems.

Day-to-day, our Chief Engineers will diligently prepare for sailing, monitor systems for optimal performance, bunkering, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the company’s performance standards. This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and experienced engineers.
Hullo’s Chief Engineers are critical to ensuring the reliability of our service and will have a direct impact on the success of the company and its culture. 

Responsibilities 

·      Engine and Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of engines and auxiliary equipment to ensure optimal performance.
·      Engine Room Watch: Maintain an engine room watch in accordance with VIFC and Transport Canada regulations.
·      Vessel Bunkering: Manage the bunkering process of the vessel efficiently and safely.
·      System Operations: Operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic control systems, as well as replenishment-at-sea equipment.
·      Climate Control Management: Operate and maintain refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure comfort and functionality.
·      Preventive Maintenance Monitoring: Monitor and execute tasks within the preventive maintenance system, ensuring timely completion and updates as necessary.
·      Safety Management Implementation: Ensure adherence to the safety management system within your department to promote a safe working environment.
·      Engine Parameter Monitoring: Monitor key functioning parameters of the main engine (pressure, temperature, levels) and promptly report any irregularities.
·      Regulatory Compliance: Operate all engines, equipment, pumps, and shipboard systems according to manufacturer recommendations and relevant regulations.
·      Fluid and Pressure Level Adjustment: Monitor and adjust fluid and pressure levels as required to maintain system integrity.
·      Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related tasks as needed to support operational excellence.

Certificates
  • Hold a valid Transport Canada STCW 2nd Class Marine Engineering certificate (minimum required)
  • Reciprocal candidates are encouraged to apply (Certifications from Australia, Ukraine, UK, Ireland etc…)
  • Current STCW Certificates
  • Valid Canadian SFM
  • Passenger Safety Management (a bonus)

Compensation

$57.00 - $61.00 per hour
